Repairing & Rewaxing a Barbour Jacket from Barbour

Tough stuff

Barbour wax jackets are made to last, and allow everybody to experience the joy of the great outdoors – whatever the weather! They are renowned for their durability, weather- resistant properties, and a patina that improves with age. In fact, renewable and sustainable waxed cotton remains one of the toughest and most durable fabrics available. With a legendary reputation for longevity, and if looked after, a Barbour waxed jacket can be used for many years.

From shoulders to seams

It is the nature of waxed cotton for the wax to gradually dry out in areas that are in constant use, such as the shoulders, seams, and those areas that are subjected to friction, like pockets. This wear and tear is completely normal, so Barbour recommends that its customers repair, rather than throw out, their favourite Barbour jacket.

Garment recycling

Barbour offers a service that allows its customers to return their beloved Barbour jacket at any time to be reproofed, repaired, or altered. Each year, approximately 25,000 jackets come through the company’s customer service departments across the globe.

This story shows how Barbour supports Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, specifically Target 12.5: “By 2030, substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling, and reuse.”
