Axis is one of the UK’s leading building renovation and property services companies. They work with some of the UK’s largest building owners, landlords and facilities managers to provide strategic building repairs, maintenance and improvement across all property sectors. Axis has developed an award-winning system for electronic Waste Transfer Notes that embraces digitisation and reduces paper waste.
Between 2010 and 2015, the world lost 3.3 million hectares of forest areas. Whilst paper directly is only responsible for 13% of the world total wood harvest, using paper inevitably expands your carbon footprint and consumes more energy. For Axis, they believe that going digital means cutting out waste and going greener.
In the prestigious Business Green Leader Awards, Axis won the brand-new category – Digital Project of the Year Award. They won the award for embracing digitisation and driving sustainable development through big data, as part of their digital 1st Touch Waste Transfer Notes (WTNs) initiative.
The 1st Touch Waste Transfer Note (WTN) system used by Axis allows WTNs to be stored digitally, rather than relying on paper submissions. The system allows Axis to see how much waste has been created for each of their projects and contracts, which has led to better business intelligence and improved their ability to act sustainably. In addition, through digitisation Axis have much better oversight of their WTNs, allowing for more thorough checks to ensure legal compliance.
“This story shows how Axis Europe supports Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, specifically Target 12.5: “By 2030, substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse”
