Can the healing power of animals promote inclusion?
Joules partners with Nuzzlets, a fantastic charity that provides a loving home for unwanted animals. Young people with disabilities, special needs, and life-threatening illnesses get free access to the Nuzzlets centre to receive animal-assisted therapy and education. This vital work helps improve motor skills, which enhances communication, raises self-esteem, reduces anxiety and loneliness, and provides the opportunity to interact with others.
The healing power of animals
Joules supports Nuzzlets’ great work through the sales of its fun, applique tops. In addition to financial support, Joules helps the charity in a variety of ways:
- Joules employees volunteer at Nuzzlets, providing ‘goody bags’ as part of the Joules ‘Random Acts of Kindness’ week,
- Joules provides uniforms for Nuzzlets volunteers, and wellies for volunteers and visiting children,
- Many of the Joules store decorations are donated to Nuzzlets to brighten up their classrooms and play areas.
This story shows how Joules supports Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities, specifically Target 10.2: “By 2030, empower and promote the social, economic and political inclusion of all, irrespective of age, sex, disability, race, ethnicity, origin, religion or economic or other status.”
Founded in 1989, Joules is a UK-based, premium lifestyle brand that designs and sells clothing, accessories, and homewares. It’s best known for original, unique prints that are hand-drawn or hand-painted in-house. It draws inspiration from traditional British heritage designs, but injects unexpected finishes, hidden details, and plenty of colour! The result is bright and contemporary products with a unique attention to detail. The business is still based in Market Harborough, Leicestershire, where it all began.
