Can a business promote a safe and secure workplace?
Freedom Group, part of the NG Bailey Group, is a leading provider of facilities and power engineering services. They are committed to the promotion of a safe and secure working environment, the provision of youth employment through apprenticeship schemes, and encouraging entrepreneurship through the support they offer to their franchisees.
Working better
In the UK, there are currently 32.39 million people in work. However, last year over 555,000 injuries occurred at work, with over 30.7 million working days lost due to work-related illness and workplace injury. Freedom Group is striving to make their business a safe and secure environment for its employees and significantly reduce occupational injuries.
A bit of TLC
Freedom Group’s behaviour change programme, TLC – Take a moment, Lead by example, Challenge don’t walk by – helps foster a safe and secure working environment by changing unsafe habits to reduce injuries. The programme encourages all employees to behave safely and take appropriate action to protect themselves and those around them. Last year, 721 personnel, including franchisees, attended the programme delivered at over 30 events. Freedom Group has now achieved 43 million man-hours without a reportable incident under RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulation).
Training for the future
Freedom Group is committed to the provision of youth employment through apprenticeship schemes. They develop apprentices by providing practical experience that supports their training and development. Furthermore, Freedom Group strives to help develop the skills of every employee, offering over 3,000 training courses in the last year alone.
Franchisees
Their franchisee network encourages new enterprise and entrepreneurship. Employing a further 250 individuals, their 140 franchises contribute to job creation and the growth of small businesses in the local economy. Freedom Group supports franchisees at every stage of their formation, in addition to providing training and financial assistance.
