From day one, EQ’s ambition for the Positive Impact Portfolios has been to show that every investor can make a positive impact through their investments. They launched the EQ Positive Impact Portfolios, to make impact investing accessible to anyone wanted to generate a financial return whilst investing in companies developing solutions to tackle some of the world’s greatest problems. EQ map their portfolio holdings to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, to shine a spotlight on the biggest social and environmental challenges facing our world, and provide focus and clarity on what is required to meet them.
In their latest report, EQ has presented further evidence to support their hypothesis that partnering and investing in companies making a positive impact is good for returns. Whether you look at revenues, profits, or employees, companies held by the EQ Positive Impact Portfolios are growing significantly faster than those in the FTSE 100 Index. These companies are also investing significantly more in research and development, have a smaller carbon footprint, and source a higher proportion of their energy from renewable sources.
EQ has launched an online ‘impact calculator’ tool that is able to show investors exactly how much impact each of their investments has achieved over the past year, based on the size of their individual portfolio and its risk profile. Thus, helping investors track the progress of their investments and see their positive impact.
This story shows how EQ Investors supports Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, specifically Target 17.16: “enhance the global partnership for sustainable development complemented by multi-stakeholder partnerships that mobilize and share knowledge, expertise, technologies and financial resources to support the achievement of sustainable development goals in all countries, particularly developing countries.”
